About Lachlan Braithwaite

I spent six years in payments before I wrote a word about casinos. Reconciliation, chargeback analysis, settlement timing for merchants who moved money across borders every day — unglamorous work, but it teaches you to read a terms document the way an auditor reads a ledger, looking for the clause that decides what actually happens rather than the sentence that describes what is supposed to.

Since 2015 I have applied that habit to offshore casinos serving Australian players. That means funding accounts with my own money from an Australian bank, clearing wagering requirements to the end rather than abandoning them halfway, filing withdrawals and timing them, and reading every bonus policy line by line before writing a sentence about it. It is slower than aggregating press releases and it produces a very different picture — usually a less flattering one.

This guide covers Rollero specifically: a Roman-themed casino operated by Metlait SRL out of Costa Rica on a Tobique licence, running a four-stage welcome package for Australian players. I am not the operator, I do not take bets and I do not hold anyone’s money. Links to the casino on this site are commercial. What is on the page is not: if a clause is bad for the player, it goes in, and if a rival review has a fact wrong, I say so with the source.

How I test a casino

Five steps, run in the same order every time.

Step 1

Read the terms before the marketing

Terms of service, bonus policy, responsible gaming policy and payments page, in that order, with clause numbers noted. Anything I quote on this site can be traced back to a numbered clause or a published page.

Step 2

Open the site properly, not from a screenshot

Palette, fonts, button styling and lobby structure come from the live site inspected in a browser, not from a press kit or a supplied banner. Artwork sent to me is used as artwork; it never substitutes for checking the operator’s own pages.

Step 3

Deposit, play, withdraw

Real money on a real Australian account. I take the first bonus stage, clear or lose it honestly, then file a withdrawal and record every timestamp between the request and the money landing.

Step 4

Break the boring parts

Verification with a slightly wrong document, a login from a cold browser, a limit set and tested, support contacted at three in the morning. The failure paths tell you more about an operator than the happy path ever does.

Step 5

Check the claims other sites make

Where a competing review states a fact I cannot reproduce — a payment method that is not in the cashier, a licence that is not in the footer, a bonus figure that does not match the policy — I write down what the operator actually publishes and flag the discrepancy.

II

Editorial rules

What this site will and will not do.

Always

  • Quote figures from the operator’s own pages, with the clause where one exists
  • Say plainly when a rule works against the player
  • Name what an operator does not publish instead of filling the gap with a guess
  • Label estimates from my own testing as estimates
  • Put the legal position of offshore casinos in Australia in front of the offer, not behind it

Never

  • Invent RTP percentages, payout limits or VIP tiers to fill a table
  • Describe an offshore operator as licensed or approved in Australia
  • List a payment method that is not in the Australian cashier
  • Recommend depositing more than you intended to chase status or a bonus
  • Publish a review of a casino I have not funded myself

A note on money, because it matters. This site earns commission when a reader opens an account through one of its links. That pays for the hosting, the testing deposits and the time. It does not buy a word of the content: no operator sees a page before it is published, and nothing on this site has been changed at an operator’s request. If that arrangement ever conflicts with telling you something useful, the useful thing wins — which is why the banking page opens by telling you that PayID does not work here.

Gambling is entertainment with a negative expected value. It is not an income strategy, a way out of a financial hole, or a skill you can practise into profitability at a slot machine. If it has stopped being fun, Gambling Help Online is free, confidential and available around the clock on 1800 858 858, and BetStop will exclude you from every licensed Australian wagering operator at once.

Corrections are welcome and acted on. If something on this site is out of date — a code that has expired, a payment rail that has appeared or disappeared, a clause the operator has rewritten — it will be checked against the live site and amended. Operators change their terms without notice, and no review stays accurate on its own.
